NEW DELHI: Aimed at making lakhs of visitors aware of safe use of roads, the annual road safety exhibition of the Delhi police was inaugurated by Delhi Chief Secretary Narayana Swami at Pragati Maidan on Wednesday.

The exhibition will showcase various initiatives taken by the Delhi traffic police to streamline the movement of traffic and ensure safety on roads.

Focusing on vulnerable road users like pedestrians, cyclists and two-wheelers who comprise 82 per cent of the crash victims, the exhibition has been given the theme, “Alertness can make a difference”.

Speaking on the occasion, Delhi Police Commissioner K. K. Paul asserted that it was necessary to include road safety in school curriculum.

He also appreciated the efforts of a few schools which have already started the process.

Photographs and general safety tips apart, the exhibition is also displaying various gadgets and technologies being used by the traffic police such as speed radar, interceptor, mobile exhibition van and road disaster management vehicle.

Live demonstrations of area traffic control system, closed-circuit television and red speed cameras are also part of the exhibition.
