Nizamabad: Six persons, including Adilabad zilla parishad vice-chairman Lakkampally Jeevan Rao, were killed and two others seriously injured in a road accident at Nagepur village on Monday morning.

The accident took place when the Tata Sumo in which they were travelling collided head on with a cement-laden lorry between Faqurabad and Navipet at 11 am. The victims were proceeding towards Nizamabad in Adilabad district to attend a function in Nizamabad town while the lorry was going to Basara from Nizamabad.

Apart from 42-year-old Jeevan Rao, the others killed included his wife Laxmi (40), Narayana Rao (50), Shehikala (40), Premeela (35) and Kalamma (40). The injured driver Chinnu (32) and Lalitha (30), are admitted to Nizamabad government hospital.
