Mumbai: Four persons, including two children, were killed in a road accident at Khalapur in Raigad district early on Wednesday when a mini-bus collided with a stationary truck. The mini-bus was carrying a wedding party.

The Khalapur police said the accident took place near the toll naka around 2.30 am. The minibus, which was on its way to Satara from Vitthalwadi, was carrying 35 people, along with the groom. Three of the deceased were identified as Akash Darveshi (10), Tushar Jalinder Daptare (10) and Jalinder R Daptare (44). The fourth person is believed to be the cleaner of the bus. Five persons are in a serious condition, while 20 others have been admitted to hospitals in Kalamboli and Sion.

The groom, Dhananjay Barve (23) received minor injuries. The police said most of the passengers were asleep at the time of the accident and so could not recollect how the accident occurred. Bus driver R Madhavan has been admitted to Sion hospital in a serious condition. The Khalapur police said the accident seemed to be the fault of the mini-bus driver since the truck was stationary at the Khalapur toll naka.
