No uniform speed limits on Pb roads

December 18th, 2006

Chandigarh: Be careful the next time you travel through Punjab. For, you might be on the same state highway, but would be required to follow a different speed limit each time you drive from one district to another. In fact, Punjab is the only state in the country, which does not have a uniform speed limit. All districts in the state follow different speed limits along the highways and the speed limits vary from one municipality to another. Thus, one may have to pay fine for over speeding, without even being aware of the the required speed regulation.

The speed limit in all the districts of Punjab varies on the national highways, the state highways and on district roads, resulting in a lot of confusion and uncertainty.
