Five killed, 12 injured in separate road accidents in Bihar

Patna, Apr 17 : Five people, including three women, were killed and 12 others injured, several of them seriously, in separate road accidents in Muzaffarpur and West Champaran districts of Bihar today.

Police here said four people, including three women, were killed on the spot and eight others injured when they were hit by a speeding car on National Highway 102 near Eklema village in Muzaffaerpur district.

The mishap occurred as the victims were offering puja in a roadside temple near the highway.

All the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital where the condition of five of them, including four women, was stated to be critical.

Meanwhile, in another accident at Matolia village in West Champaran district in north Bihar, a minor was killed and four others were injured as they were run over by a speeding jeep on the road. All the injured were shifted to a health centre in critical condition, police said.

However, the drivers of both the killer vehicles fled after the incident and none could be arrested so far, though separate cases had been lodged, police added.
